Acting and Character Development

Learning Role Creation and the Complexity of Acting

Acting is the art of expression through careful application and the intentional delivery of dialogue, movement, and vocal presentation. Live theater, unlike film, cannot be erased, and therefore requires a different set of more thoughtful techniques and focused effort.

Center Stage Theatrical Productions LLC offers acting courses for all skill levels, both as an introductory course or as an extension of the fundamentals you've learned through beginning acting or Theater 101. A strong knowledge of those principles including intentional movement, engaged focus, and emotion control can benefit your interaction with a script.

SOME ESSENTIAL TIPS FOR BEGINNER ACTORS.

While many of the tips and techniques you need to know for acting and character development will be taught and explained by your instructor, there are some easy to understand facts that will enhance your theater experience. Learning how to open up, knowing basic stage directions, and the ability to dive into the lines on the page is essential for embodying performance.

This workshop series enhances stage presence by developing physicality, vocal projection, and emotional depth in character portrayal. Students will learn methods for connecting personal experience to roles, and improvisation techniques for emotional depth, among many other aspects of goal setting, tactic shifts and expectation setting.

Should I Take Acting 101 First?

For those simply looking to explore theater, there's no real prerequisites to picking up a script or song and trying it out with their voice. However, we highly recommend to our up-and-coming artists that they spend time exploring and learning the fundamentals of basic acting.

Concepts such as articulation, open presentational physicality, and projection can prove immensely valuable when making the transition to scene work and character development.

Acting Nurtures Growth

That growth isn't just in the technical or academic sense, either. Learning to adequately express yourself through performance can unleash your innermost creativity and help you find new and exciting ways to express your ideas.

Theater also provides emotional catharsis. Many of us struggle to find outlets to effectively express our inner struggles, and art exists precisely for this purpose.

Begin Your Journey Today

Though theater arts can simply feel like an expression of the self with no real guidance, it couldn't be further from the truth. Theater schools exist to show prospective artists how to properly utilize various skills they possess and techniques they can learn, so that you can adequately express yourself, not unlike learning a new language.
